Just bought a Roto Hoe Chipper/Shredder PTO powered to handle the prunings from a small orchard, Does anyone have experience with this machine, have a manual operating or parts. I have one other problem beyond part availability: the PTO shaft is too long by 8 inches because I have an overriding clutch on my Ford 640. The PTO shaft is the early style and removing the over riding clutch would serve no purpose. Options appear to be: Cut PTO shaft by 8', Extend the machine PTO links, find another tractor or????Appreciate comments and suggestions there is a picture uploaded with this post and never had problems over the years posting but this post is causing me problems and I don't know why - should have enough posts under new handle but lets see/. With regard to PTO Shaft size - I've had this 640 for a very long time and it does have the smaller shaft which the over riding clutch adjusts to the new size. I think it came on the machine new.
And yes, the fellow I bought this machine from thought it would work well on clearing fence lines and he felt it was too much work for the return - I do too but with our dry spells we get into a 'Burn Ban' and the wood pile gets away from me especially when I prune the orchard. So I agree the cut the shaft makes the most sense and that leaves we with still looking for parts book and a source for parts appreciate it if you all might keep your eyes open for these little gems.
As always thanks guys for a great response.
